  • Overview

    Homes for Independent Living (HIL) is improving the way we manage our business as we continue to grow!   The OPERATIONS SUPPORT SPECIALIST position is a great opportunity to improve the lives of our clients by actively supporting operations in the services HIL provides. 


    Primary duties of the Operations Support Specialist include:                                                                                                                                              

    • Prepares service sites for operation including renovations, purchasing, program development and achieving regulatory credentials.
    • Assists in managing the Company’s vehicle fleet including ordering, renewals, transfers, securing loaner vehicles and reviewing required reporting.
    • Conducts internal investigations including root cause analyses of employee injury, allegations of employee misconduct, client grievances, non-compliance with resident rights, and incidents of theft or injuries of unknown source.
    • Participates in proactive Quality Assurance and regulatory compliance audits. Prepares reports and recommendations for improvement.
    • In-house expert on all applicable regulatory requirements. Supports the development, implementation, and update of all internal processes directed at compliance. 
    • Maintains knowledge of documentation systems, organizational policies, licensing requirements, administrative procedures, confidentiality requirements, organizational standards and Employee Handbook information. Promotes consistency in practices.
    • Supports operations teams in ameliorating system breakdowns that compromise program outcomes. Provides training or mentoring to agency staff as assigned. 
    • Participates in project committees and represents interests of assigned regions.

    The Operations Support Specialist is a critical role and must work collaboratively with Operations Management and other company departments that support our operations.  The Operations Support Specialist reports to the Operations Support Manager, who reports to the Operations Support Director.


    Qualified individuals must possess at least five (5) years of experience providing community based residential support services in long term care and supervisory experience is preferred.  High school diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s degree is preferred.  The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to work under tight deadlines, exercise good judgement, and effectively problem solve.  This position requires exceptional communication and organizational skills.  The right candidate must quickly adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate flexibility, autonomy, responsiveness, and overall must possess a high level of initiative.
