    Hours: 2nd shift  (schedules include every other weekend and some holidays)

    Status: Full-time


    Homes for Independent Living is seeking reliable, caring, direct support professionals (DSP)- caregivers to join our team to provide respectful support services to persons with disabilities so they may attain fulfilling lives in the community.  No experience necessary, we will fully train you. 100% employee owned, which means you will receive company stock!


    What you will be responsible for as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) Caregiver:

    • Provide positive behavioral support
    • Assist with activities of daily living
    • Help plan and participate in activities in the community and the home
    • Teach and encourage healthy relationship habits and positive social skills
    • Ensure a safe environment
    • Redirect challenging behaviors
    • Protect the rights of clients with disabilities so that they may freely exercise their own life choices
    • Follow Individual Service Plans (ISP) and protocols
    • Administer medications and utilize assistive medical devices as needed per ISP


    • Exceptional communication and problem solving skills
    • Desire and ability to provide support to people needing assistance with daily living skills
    • Must be at least 18 years old 
    • Valid driver's license for 3 years with an acceptable driving record per HIL's policy
    • Access to an insured vehicle is strongly preferred
    • Successful completion of a caregiver background check as mandated by Wisconsin Chapter HFS 12
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment TB test and health screen
